Is There an Apple Leather Case for iPhone 18 Pro?

Leather iPhone 18 Pro cases with metal camera frame in Saddle Brown, Dark Brown and Black

Short answer: no. Apple stopped making leather iPhone cases in 2023, so there is no Apple leather case for iPhone 18 Pro or iPhone 18 Pro Max. The last iPhone to get one was the iPhone 14.

If you went looking for one, you probably liked leather for good reasons: the way it feels in the hand, the way it darkens with use, and MagSafe that simply works. None of that has gone away. It just has to come from a leather maker now. Here is what changed, and what to look for in a leather case for your iPhone 18 Pro today.

Why Apple stopped making leather cases

On 12 September 2023, alongside the iPhone 15, Apple announced that it would no longer use leather in its new products. The decision was part of its environmental targets and covered iPhone cases, Apple Watch bands and other accessories.

That leaves a simple choice for anyone who prefers leather: buy from people who work with leather every day.

What to look for in a leather case for iPhone 18 Pro

Full grain leather

Leather is graded by how much of the hide’s outer surface survives. Full grain keeps all of it, so the natural grain, strength and character stay in the case. Top grain has been sanded and refinished, “genuine leather” usually means a lower layer of the hide, and bonded leather is made from scraps glued together. Full grain is the one that ages into a patina instead of wearing out.

MagSafe built in

The iPhone 18 Pro charges and holds its accessories with magnets. A good leather case has its own ring of magnets under the leather, so chargers, wallets and car mounts line up and hold securely. Without one, the leather simply sits between the phone and the charger and weakens the hold.

Proper buttons and a covered Camera Control

Camera Control on the side of the iPhone 18 Pro is a button you press, half press and swipe. Some cases leave an open cutout around it. A cover is better, as long as it stays sensitive: sapphire crystal is hard enough to shrug off scratches and still lets every press and swipe through. The other buttons should click cleanly, not squash like a leather bump.

A raised edge and camera surround

A slightly raised lip around the screen and around the camera keeps both off the table when you put the phone down. With the large camera plateau on the iPhone 18 Pro, the camera surround matters more than ever.

A soft lining

Look for microfibre inside. It is the part of the case you never see, but it stops grit being pressed into the glass back every time the phone goes into a pocket.

Open or closed bottom

A closed bottom covers the whole lower edge. An open bottom leaves the port, speaker and microphones bare, so any cable or dock fits. If you are unsure, our guide to open bottom vs closed bottom iPhone cases walks through the trade.

How we make ours

Our leather case for iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max is built around that list. It is made from vegetable tanned full grain leather with the outer surface of the hide left exactly as it is: no sanding, no buffing, no correction. Inside there is a microfibre lining and a full ring of MagSafe magnets. The buttons are machined metal, and Camera Control sits under sapphire crystal rather than an open cutout.

Around the camera sits our metal camera frame, reprofiled for iPhone 18 with softer, rounded edges after feedback from iPhone 17 owners. It keeps the lenses off the table without catching on the way into a pocket.

The case costs £59 and comes in Saddle Brown, Dark Brown and Black. There is also an open bottom version at £50, with a raised leather camera surround in place of the metal frame. You will find both in our iPhone 18 case collection.

Which colour?

Saddle Brown is the warm tan most people picture when they think of a leather phone case, and it changes the most with age. Dark Brown is quieter and deepens slowly. Black barely changes at all, apart from a soft sheen. Here is how each shade pairs with the four iPhone 18 Pro finishes.

It will look better in a year than it does today

Vegetable tanned full grain leather develops a patina: it darkens and softens where your hand holds it and keeps a record of everyday life. This is the same Saddle Brown case on day one and after 100 days.

Looking after it takes very little. Our guide on how to clean a leather phone case covers it, and it mostly comes down to a barely damp cloth and some patience. If you want to know why we still bother with leather at all, we wrote about why leather still matters.

Missing the leather Apple Watch band too?

The same 2023 decision ended leather Apple Watch bands. Our leather Apple Watch straps are made from full grain leather in Saddle Brown, Dark Brown and Black, with stainless steel hardware, in two sizes that fit Apple Watch cases from 38 to 46 mm. There are softer Nappa versions in brighter colours too.

Frequently asked questions

Does Apple still make leather iPhone cases?

No. Apple stopped using leather in its new products in September 2023. The iPhone 14 was the last iPhone to get an Apple leather case.

Will an old Apple leather case fit the iPhone 18 Pro?

No. A case is cut for one model’s exact size, buttons and camera, and the iPhone 18 Pro is different from older models on all three.

Does MagSafe work through a leather case?

It does when the case has magnets built in, as ours does. Chargers, wallets and mounts then line up and hold securely through the leather.

How long does a leather iPhone case last?

Full grain leather is made for years of daily use. It gets softer and darker rather than cracking or peeling, which is why we say it wears in rather than wears out.
